The Information and Spectrum Warfare Directorate, Wargaming and Simulation Section, seeks to hire a Wargaming and Analysis Analyst, DR-01 (GS-07/11 or equivalent)/DR-02 (GS-12/13 or equivalent), at Kirtland AFB, NM.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Utilizes knowledge of unit processes, programs, policies, and objectives to coordinate the work with others and provide recommendations for improvements to meet program objectives.
- Utilize scientific methods to identify and implement solutions in analysis trade-space.
- Contributes quantitative feedback on concept studies, contributing to theoretical rigor and concept refinement across RFYWS studies and programs.
- Conducts detailed analyses of technology applications proving military utility through participation and analysis of wargaming events.
- Create concept cards for prototype systems to serve as reference materials for wargaming events.
- Utilization of air and ground engagement concepts to influence strategic decisions and guide the USAF acquisitions process.
- Utilize computing resources and programming languages to extract data from Modeling & Simulation (M&S) exercises supporting Military Utility Assessments for future concepts.
- Application of demonstrated competence in the rigorous methods of scientific inquiry applied to M&S by breaking down problems into basic components and then solved in defined steps by mathematical analysis.
- Participate in wargaming events, model validation and output analysis for AFRL Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) models utilizing data analysis tools including, but not limited to, AFSIM, Python, C / C++, R, and resources such as high-performance computers and enclaves existing at multiple classification levels.
- Conduct extensive research to refine current processes and models to increase fidelity and realism to provide direct benefit to the warfighter.
- Isolate problems, identify potential solutions and implement selected methodologies to address shortcomings in the data processing infrastructure and study development process, providing increased capability for RFYWS.
- Communicate complex analytical principles and techniques to internal and external customers by authoring documentation and presentation materials.
- Applies modeling techniques and procedures, designs sample surveys, modifies established methods, to support mission objectives.

- U.S. Citizenship Required.

- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise, the employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance.

- The employee must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA).
- This is an APDP position requiring Level/Tier 1 (DR-01/DR-02) (Foundational) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management.
- A bachelor’s degree; in an engineering discipline is required and must be obtained from an ABET accredited institution recognized by the Office of Personnel Management https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1500/operations-research-series-1515/.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working in diverse DoD acquisition focused groups or teams.
- An advanced degree in STEM is preferred.
- Resume must demonstrate experience with early DoD acquisition life-cycle efforts such as SBIR, & STTR efforts.
- Resume must demonstrate the ability analyze technical data to identify trends and draw conclusions.
- At least 1 year of specialized experience at the DR-01 (GS-07/11 or equivalent)/DR-02 (GS-12/13 or equivalent) level for basic qualification, but additional years is preferred.
- Experience with USAF Wargaming, Modeling & Simulation is preferred.
