The AFRL Technology Transition Office (RR) DBN Architecture & Systems Engineering (ASE) mission seeks to hire a mid to senior-level DR/DO-02/03/04 supervisory branch chief to lead the Architecture Analysis Integration Team at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to design, evaluate, and integrate the "system of systems" that provides resilient command and control (C2) and decision advantage against pacing threats. This is an interdisciplinary leadership opportunity open to all federal civilian employees. The incumbent will serve as a first-level supervisor and key leader in both AFRL and DAF C3BM directing and coordinating work through subordinate employees across multiple mission areas while applying technical expertise to lead and inform architecture investments and transition strategies.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises personnel, champions workforce development, and directs branch activities to meet evolving AFRL and DAF C3BM priorities.
- Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate employees.
- Manages various aspects of the branch personnel resources and facilitates planning, execution and reporting IAW mission goals.
- Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures and directives of senior management.
- Leads, promotes, and enables complex multidisciplinary work involving the application of science and engineering (S&E) and/or program management principles to direct complex capability development projects and/or processes.
- Builds and fosters DAF DBN partnerships across AFRL, AFLCMC, AFMC, USSF to support system of systems architecture analysis and integration.
- Develops approaches and solutions and provides analytics to identify, assess, and mature innovative and affordable technology and concepts to meet future DAF needs.
- Performs long-range planning of manpower and supports programmatic planning activities within branch scope, defends the resources needed to achieve organizational goals, and expertly guides the implementation of resources in a dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI.
- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience (SES) at the GS-11 equivalent for DR/DO-02 consideration; GS-13 equivalent SES for DR/DO-03 consideration; or GS-14 equivalent SES for DR/DO-04 consideration demonstrating knowledge of systems engineering, specifically in architecting, designing, and integrating complex, large-scale "system-of-systems" in defense environments.
- This is an interdisciplinary position. Applicants must be able to meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific positions when the position is filled. - S&E positions have a positive education requirement. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical S&E field is required. Applicants must provide transcript(s).
- This is a supervisory position. Incumbent may be subject to a supervisory probation period.
- The incumbent may be subject to random drug testing.
- PCS may or may not be authorized.
- Position may be designated as an acquisition position, covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Applicants must list all APDP certification(s) on the resume and will have 60 months to meet APDP requirements.
- Position is eligible for situational telework, but incumbents must live within the commuting area of the assigned duty station (Wright-Patterson AFB, OH).

- Deep technical expertise in Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM) domains.
- Demonstrated ability leading or guiding cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Experience distilling strategic and/or leadership guidance into actionable plans or courses of action.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people, build consensus, and identify and resolve conflicts/problems with the workforce.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and grow cross-functional teams.
- Passion for developing innovative approaches and solutions.
- Cultivates and sustains a professional environment of cooperation, cohesion, and teamwork.
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in Engineering (or a related career field) is highly desired.
